X (Twitter) Monetization Requirements 2026

Everything your account needs to qualify for X monetization this year — the follower count, the impressions threshold, the subscription, and the payout setup — explained without the jargon.

X monetization isn’t a single switch. To start earning from the X’s Original Content Rewards program in 2026, your account has to clear several thresholds at the same time — and most people who stall out are missing just one of them without realising it.

This page lists all current requirements, explains what each one means, and points out the one that stops nearly everyone. If you’d rather have it handled for you, we manage the whole process — but you don’t need us to understand the rules, so here they are in full.

Note: In August 2026, X replaced the old Creator Revenue Sharing program with the Original Content Rewards Program. Old Revenue Sharing ended September 7, 2026; the new program began September 8. The requirements below reflect the new program

The quick checklist

Here’s the complete set of requirements for X’s Original Content Rewards Program in 2026. You need all of them, not just some:

X monetization eligibility — 2026

  • At least 500 verified followers — real, active accounts
  • ✓500,000 qualified impressions on your original posts, from Premium users, within the last 90 days
  • ✓Active X Premium, Premium+, or Premium Business subscription
  • Verified Stripe account connected for payouts
  • Account active for 3+ months and in good standing
  • Complete profile — verified email, profile photo, header, bio, 2FA
  • ✓Live in an eligible country where the program is available
  • ✓Original content — content you personally created
  • ✓Be 18 years or older

The short version: followers are easy, the subscription is a small monthly cost, and the profile items take an afternoon. The impressions threshold is the one that separates accounts that are monetized from those that aren’t.

At least 500 followers

You need a minimum of 500 followers, and X specifies they should be genuine, active accounts. Bought or bot followers don’t count toward eligibility and can put your account at risk during review.

For most accounts that post consistently in a defined niche, 500 real followers is the easiest threshold to hit. If you’re not there yet, it usually comes down to consistency and a clear topic rather than any trick — the same posting that builds impressions builds followers.

500,000 qualified impressions in the last 90 days

This is the big one. Your posts need to have generated at least 5,000,000 organic impressions over the previous three months. Not lifetime — a rolling 90-day window.

To put that in perspective, Your original posts need to have generated at least 500,000 qualified impressions over the previous 90 days — impressions from Premium users, on the Home Timeline. Replies don’t count. Not lifetime — a rolling 90-day window. Posting more often rarely gets you there on its own. The accounts that clear this threshold tend to have three things in common:

  • A defined niche — so the algorithm knows who to show the content to
  • Engagement from Premium users — replies and interactions from paying accounts weigh more heavily
  • Consistency — daily posting and replying, not sporadic bursts

This is precisely the gap most people can’t close alone, and it’s the part our growth plans and monetization service are built to handle — reply networks, viral content structure, and the consistency that manual effort rarely sustains.

Watch the window: because it’s a rolling 3-month figure, impressions from four months ago no longer count. If your best month was last spring, it won’t help you qualify today. The 500k has to be recent.

Active X Premium or Verified Organization

You must hold an active paid subscription — X Premium, Premium+ (for individual creators), or Premium Business (for businesses). This is a requirement set by X and paid directly to them; it’s separate from any growth service.

X Premium for individuals is the common route for creators. Verified Organization is the business tier and costs considerably more per month. Either satisfies the subscription requirement, so most individual creators simply subscribe to Premium.

Verified Stripe payout account

X pays creators through Stripe. You’ll need a verified Stripe account connected to your X profile before any earnings can be released. Setting it up involves confirming your identity and bank details with Stripe directly.

Your payouts go from X, through Stripe, straight to your bank. No third party ever sits between you and your money — a point worth remembering if any service ever asks for access to your earnings. They shouldn’t need it.

Complete profile and good standing

Several smaller requirements sit under this heading, and missing any one of them can hold up approval:

  • Verified email address
  • Profile photo and header image set
  • Complete bio and display name
  • Two-factor authentication enabled
  • Active on X for at least 3 months
  • Good standing under X’s rules and creator terms

“Good standing” means no recent violations of X’s User Agreement, Creator Monetization Standards, or related policies. If your account has been restricted recently, resolve that before applying.

Which requirement is actually hardest?

Here’s how the requirements stack up in practice

Requirement

Difficulty

Why

Easy

Consistency in a niche gets you there

X Premium

Easy

A small monthly subscription

Stripe + profile

Easy

An afternoon of setup

3 months active

Time

Just requires waiting

500k impressions / 90 days

Hard

~5,500/day, Premium users only; where almost everyone stalls

Four of the five are straightforward. The impressions threshold is the wall. That’s not an accident — X set it high enough to filter out low-effort accounts, which is exactly why reaching it consistently is a skill (and a service) in its own right.

Frequently asked questions

500 active followers is the minimum. It’s one of the easier thresholds — the harder one is 500,000 qualified impressions over 90 days.

500 verified followers, 500,000 qualified impressions in the last 90 days, an active X Premium/Premium+/Premium Business subscription, a verified Stripe account, a complete profile with 2FA, three months of account activity, and good standing under X’s rules.

Within a rolling 3-month window. Older impressions drop off, so the 500k has to be recent — you can’t rely on a viral month from last year.

Yes. An active X Premium subscription (or Premium Business for businesses) is required. It’s paid directly to X and is separate from any growth or monetization service.

Through Stripe. You connect a verified Stripe account, and payouts go from X to your bank via Stripe. Payouts are typically issued once you pass the minimum threshold.

Not immediately — X requires accounts to be active for at least three months before they’re eligible, on top of the other requirements.
