The minimum payout threshold
Before any of this matters, your account has to be eligible. To join X’s Creator Revenue Sharing program, you need, among other things, around 500k organic impressions over three months and an active X Premium subscription. Full details are in our requirements guide.
Once you’re earning, X also holds a minimum payout threshold — you need to accumulate a set amount before a payout is released to your connected Stripe account. Below that, your earnings roll over to the next cycle. Payouts then arrive on a roughly bi-weekly schedule.you need to accumulate at least $30 before a payout is released
What actually drives your earnings
- Premium-user engagement — the biggest lever by far. Replies and interaction from paying accounts are what pay.
- Niche — some topics attract more Premium engagement and higher ad value than others.
- Consistency — steady daily activity beats occasional viral spikes for sustained payouts.
- Original content on the Home Timeline — posts that reach Premium users are what the payout formula rewards.
Notice that raw follower count isn’t on this list. Followers help, but they’re not what the payout formula rewards — engagement quality is.
